Philosophy

The basis of our philosophy contends that an essential oil is the constitution or essence of the plant and therefore contain the necessary blueprint for the genetic outcome to unfold in the plant.  This is recognized through the law of signatures among other philosophical understandings which will be explored in greater detail by registering for instruction in The AromaPoint Therapy system.

We advocate the application of essential oils onto the human body via carrier/base oil products only!  Our philosophy of blending essential oils with carrier oils (fatty lipid products) is not just out of the necessity of requiring a base oil to make the essential oils safe for applying onto the skin, but rather to utilize the carrier oils own properties of being able to effect specific areas of the body’s “Qi” healing energy.  Each carrier oil can effect the bodies “Qi” in its own way regardless of what essential oils are applied to it.  I have always found this notion to be overlooked in the field of aromatherapy and unfortunately so.  More often than not, people only use carrier oils from an allopathic approach and mostly not a holistic one.  This neither helps to further the healing potential of the oil blend, nor does it offer greater resonance with the “Qi” healing energy one is trying to facilitate via the essential oils.

AromaPoint Therapy’s philosophy also utilizes the application of acupoints that are known to assist in the healing process.  So often we see people liberally applying their neat (undiluted)essential oils or blends to areas of the body that they deem as being the best area for application.  Many western trained aromatherapists agree that there are areas of the body that are limited in the ability to allow the essential oils to penetrate deeply enough through the tissue to reach the desired place within the body to facilitate the greatest amount of healing.  This is where the line is drawn between western holistic aromatherapy practitioners and western medical aromatherapy practitioners.  Since the oils can not reach the desired level in the human body by massaging them in, the western aromatherapist immediately realizes that the physical application of the oil blends is limited due to the density of the body’s tissue in certain areas.  The next step in the western aromatherapy philosophy is to employ medical aromatherapy which is the ingestion and uptake of essential oils for healing through the mouth and digestive system which will allow the oil to travel to the necessary internal area of the body.  We can offer a solution to this gap in practice between the external and internal application by utilizing the AromaPoint Therapy method of apply the oil blends onto acupoints that effect the targeted area of the body through a distal or remote effect via the Qi meridian system.  This follows the philosophies of eastern (Chinese, Japanese, etc) medical practices like acupuncture, acupressure and shiatsu.  Instead of using a needle like an acupuncture practitioner would, we employ an essential oil blended with a carrier oil as our “needle” for effecting the Qi at the acupoint to promote healing.  There are other practitioners offering education and private aromatherapy healing sessions using acupoints combined with essential oils blends but they do not practice the unique system we have been refining for overwith the experience or the refinement that we have crafted over the last 20 years+ of healings and exploration.

We firmly take the stance that applying essential oils to a person’s body, via your hands, is not always a safe method of application.  The concern here is that you, the practitioner, are absorbing the oils through the skin of your hands which causes a question to arise.  Will you be doing more than one application of aromatherapy blends that day?  If not, then we do not see any cause for concern. If so, then the practitioner should be aware that every time you are applying the oil onto the person’s body that you are in turn taking a therapeutic dose (or whatever dosage you have employed) into your own body and that will have effects on your physiology, chemistry,  mood etc. In addition, if you take oils yourself or do multiple clients a day, you have just taken more than the recommended dosage of essential oils into your body which can have the effect of transforming your health into a negative state.  The simple fact remains, we usually don’t need the person’s aromatherapy formula that we have created because it is holistically (even allopathically) tailored to their needs and not yours. Hypothetically speaking, why would we take someones else’s medicine?  The answer is that we wouldn’t take someone elses’ medicine because it would not heal us of the problems we are experiencing.   This is where AromaPoint Therapy began another way of applying oils onto the acupoints that did not involve any human to human contact.  Of course there is a time and place for the messaging of oil blends onto the physical body but messaging many clients a day with essential oils can be problematic and limited in scope if done soley from a western aromatherapy philosophical application perspective.
